Activist Omoyele Sowore has accused Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of orchestrating violence amid escalating tensions within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State. In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Sowore linked recent attacks on party members to thugs allegedly tied to the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).

Sowore cited a violent incident on June 12, 2025, in which a peaceful protest was reportedly met with a harsh crackdown. He claimed the governor used his Chief of Protocol, Abayomi Olasanya, to mobilize thugs from Ekiti State, rewarding them later with control over revenue collection in Ondo.

Referring to a recent clash in Akure during a stakeholders’ meeting for a party congress, Sowore warned that the governor’s actions show a pattern of personal agenda-driven violence, alleging efforts to secure a third term despite constitutional limits. Victims, including APC State Chairman Ade Adetimehin, reportedly sustained life-threatening injuries.

The activist also criticized the state police’s response, claiming they arrived only after the violence had occurred. Sowore expressed concern over public safety under Aiyedatiwa’s leadership and questioned the governor’s silence in addressing these accusations.

As the APC crisis deepens, Sowore urged Ondo residents to recognize the dangers he associates with the governor, emphasizing that early awareness could prevent further escalation and protect citizens from the ongoing unrest.
