The Delta State Deputy Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, identified simply as Comrade Noah, has been stabbed with daggers and is currently receiving medical treatment at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) following an attack that also left several other members of the movement injured.

The attack occurred on Saturday, November 7, 2026, during a political rally by supporters of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Asaba, the Delta State capital.

The National Coordinator of the Global Obidient Movement, Dr Mo, disclosed the incident in a statement condemning the attack, describing it as another disturbing indication of the growing threat of political violence and intimidation in Nigeria.

“They hit us with daggers!” Dr Mo said, raising concerns about the country’s increasingly volatile political atmosphere.

He questioned the consequences of inflammatory statements and threats allegedly made by political leaders against opposition members, warning that such rhetoric could encourage violence and create an atmosphere in which political opponents are subjected to physical attacks.

Dr Mo specifically referenced alleged threats by chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) involving AK-47 rifles, inflammatory comments attributed to serving senators and remarks by political leaders about driving opposition members out of their states.

“When a President makes statements suggesting that all is fair in politics, what message does that send?” he asked.

“When APC chieftains openly threaten opponents with AK-47s, when serving senators make inflammatory statements against the opposition, and when political leaders talk about driving opposition members out of their states, what do we expect?

“This is how political violence is normalised. This is how intimidation becomes acceptable, and how a nation slides towards anarchy.”

According to him, such statements contribute to normalising political violence, encouraging intimidation and creating an atmosphere in which political opponents and their supporters could be physically attacked.

“Words from people in power carry consequences. When political leaders legitimise aggression, their followers may interpret it as permission to attack, intimidate, destroy and even kill,” he said.

He warned that Nigeria risked sliding into anarchy if political leaders continued to encourage hostility against opposition figures and their supporters, stressing that political disagreements should never be treated as justification for violence.

“Democracy is not warfare. Opposition is not a crime. Political competition is not a licence to murder,” Dr Mo stated.

The Global Obidient Movement demanded an immediate investigation into the attack, insisting that those responsible must be identified and brought to justice.

The group also called for accountability over the injuries sustained by Comrade Noah and other victims, stressing that Nigerians must be able to participate in political activities without fear of being attacked.

It warned against a situation where citizens exercising their democratic rights could become victims of deadly political violence.

“Nigeria must not become a country where the price of participating in democracy is a dagger in the stomach or a bullet in the chest,” Dr Mo added.

The movement further declared that no political ambition was worth the loss of a Nigerian life, calling for an end to political violence and intimidation across the country.

“Enough is enough! No political ambition is worth a single Nigerian life,” Dr Mo said.

The statement comes amid growing concerns over attacks on opposition political actors and threats against opposition figures as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
