The Accord Party candidate for the FCT Senate seat in the 2027 general election, Hon. Dalhatu Ezekiel Musa, popularly known as Mc Gida-Gida, has broken his silence on reports suggesting that he has withdrawn from the senatorial race, insisting that he remains in the contest and has no plan to step down for anybody.
The development comes amid growing political activity around the FCT Senate contest, with various claims and rumours circulating over the candidate’s status and the future of the Accord Party ticket.
In a statement issued by his media office and made available to the public, the campaign office said it had been drawn to recent rumours and claims concerning Musa’s candidacy.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Ezekiel has not stepped down from the race, and he is not stepping down for anybody,” the statement said.
The media office described as false reports linking the alleged withdrawal to events surrounding the last Area Council elections in the Federal Capital Territory and urged the public to disregard such claims.
The statement also rejected claims that Musa was requesting N2 billion in the FCT in connection with the political process.
“This claim is false and should be disregarded,” the statement added.
However, checks by ChroniclesReporters indicate that the controversy surrounding the Accord Party ticket has generated further political claims behind the scenes.
A source familiar with the political developments told ChroniclesReporters that there had been an alleged attempt to influence the emergence of the party’s candidate, including an alleged N300 million offer to the National Chairman of the Accord Party to prevent Musa’s name from appearing on the ballot.
The source linked the alleged move to former FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and former FCT Senator Philip Aduda.

Meanwhile, Musa’s campaign office said the candidate remains focused on grassroots engagements across the six Area Councils of the FCT.
According to the statement, Musa’s decision to contest the senatorial election followed calls from youths, community leaders and residents seeking accountable representation.
As part of his campaign, the candidate has also unveiled a 12-point legislative agenda outlining areas he intends to pursue if elected to the Senate.
The agenda covers institutional and political reforms, economic opportunities, infrastructure development, security, education and agriculture.
The campaign office said the agenda represents Musa’s proposed legislative focus and provides a framework for his intended representation of the Federal Capital Territory at the National Assembly.
It urged supporters and members of the public to rely on verified information from the candidate’s authorised communication channels amid the circulation of reports concerning his candidacy.
The campaign office further announced that the full details of Musa’s 12-point legislative agenda would be published in the coming week.
