Dearest Sports Family, Leaders, and the Vibrant Youths of Gwagwalada,
Standing in this new capacity as the Special Assistant on Recreational and Sports Development to the Executive Chairman of Gwagwalada Area Council, I am filled with immense gratitude and a deep sense of responsibility.
First and foremost, my profound appreciation goes to our visionary Executive Chairman, Hon. Kasim Mohammed Ikwa, for placing his confidence in me to drive this crucial mandate. I am equally grateful to the leadership of the FCT Football Association, our local sports administrators, coaches, and dedicated stakeholders whose relentless sacrifices continue to keep the spirit of sports alive across every ward of our council.
Our journey together didn’t start today. When our young athletes lacked a proper pitch, we rallied under the Gwagwalada FA to collectively fund and revive the Government Day Field. When the Gwagwalada Stadium Complex lay neglected and abandoned, I proudly stepped up on a pro bono legal service to fight for our collective rights on behalf of all Gwagwalada football stakeholders. Today, that community resilience meets official government backing.
Here is what we are rolling out immediately:
β½ Revival of the Chairmanβs Cup: After being abandoned for over 10 years, we are officially bringing back the prestigious Chairmanβs Cup to ignite ward competition and discover raw talent!
π Immediate First Assignment: We are kicking off preparations right now for a major multi-sport tournament to celebrate the Executive Chairmanβs 100 Days in Office.
π Beyond Football: We are expanding our focus to give equal energy to athletics, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, and combat sportsβensuring every youth finds a platform to shine.
π Economic Growth Through Scouting: We will establish official Gwagwalada Area Council Scouting Programs to attract national and international scouts, creating direct professional pathways for our players and driving real economic value for families and local businesses across the council.
π³ Reclaiming Our Recreational Spaces: Recreation is the heartbeat of mental health, wellness, and community unity. We are committed to making Gwagwalada a vibrant hub where family parks, fitness trails, and modern sporting arenas flourish for everyone.
This is a new sunrise for Gwagwalada Area Council, and I need every single one of you on this journey. Letβs build an enduring sports ecosystem together!
