The Chairman of Gwagwalada Area Council, Kasim Ikwa, on Tuesday flagged off the construction of the 1-kilometre Agwan Basa Road in Dobi Ward, declaring that his administration would no longer tolerate abandoned projects, substandard work or waste of public funds.
Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony, Kasim described the road project as one of several infrastructure promises his administration is committed to fulfilling, stressing that the Agwan Basa Road had been abandoned and neglected for years by previous administrations.
He said his government was determined to change the narrative by delivering durable infrastructure that would improve the lives of residents, adding that every project executed under his leadership must meet the highest standards of quality and accountability.
The chairman disclosed that the road project, being handled by Peebliss, is expected to be completed and commissioned within three months. He, however, warned that the contractor would be closely monitored throughout the construction period, saying he would personally conduct regular inspection visits to ensure the project is executed according to specification.
Kasim maintained that his administration would not compromise on quality, insisting that there would be no room for waste or substandard execution of projects.
He also appealed to residents of Dobi Ward to cooperate with Peebliss and provide the contractor with the necessary support and peaceful environment required to complete the project within schedule.
According to him, the successful completion of the Agwan Basa Road will not only improve transportation within Dobi Ward but also stimulate economic activities and enhance the quality of life for residents, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to delivering impactful infrastructure across Gwagwalada Area Council.
