Veteran Nollywood actor Clem Ohameze has publicly endorsed African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, declaring that Nigeria’s future depends on citizens rejecting what he described as “failed leaders” in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during a live interview on Worship Media with Chidi Nwanyanwu, the acclaimed actor reaffirmed his long-standing support for Sowore, describing the human rights activist as one of the few Nigerian political figures who has remained unwavering in his campaign for justice, accountability and responsible governance despite years of arrests, intimidation and political persecution.
Ohameze maintained that his confidence in Sowore has never wavered, insisting that the AAC flag bearer represents a vision of leadership anchored on justice, security, equal opportunity, transparency and the welfare of ordinary Nigerians.
“I supported Sowore before, I support him now, and I will continue to support him,” the actor declared, urging Nigerians to unite behind what he called a genuine movement for national renewal rather than recycling politicians who have repeatedly failed the country.
The Nollywood star also lamented the persistent divisions within opposition ranks, warning that the quest for political change would remain elusive if opposition parties continued to battle one another instead of presenting a formidable alternative to the ruling establishment.
According to him, rescuing Nigeria requires sacrifice, unity and collective determination among citizens and political actors committed to ending bad governance. He argued that endless internal wrangling among opposition figures only strengthens the political status quo while millions of Nigerians continue to grapple with economic hardship and insecurity.
Ohameze further expressed concern over what he described as growing hopelessness among Nigerians, saying years of unfulfilled promises and disappointment have left many citizens emotionally detached from the nation’s future.
Despite the prevailing pessimism, he urged Nigerians not to surrender to despair, insisting that meaningful change remains possible through courageous leadership and an electorate willing to challenge entrenched political interests.
The actor singled out Sowore as one of Nigeria’s most consistent voices against oppression and poor governance, noting that the activist has continued his advocacy despite repeated arrests, harassment and sustained political pressure.
Ohameze’s endorsement adds another prominent public voice to the growing political conversations ahead of the 2027 general elections, as debates over opposition unity, governance and alternative leadership continue to dominate the national discourse.
