The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has alleged that the Federal Capital Territory authorities are attempting to frustrate its national convention by pressuring a private event centre in Abuja.
In a statement shared by the partyās spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC claimed that the management of Rainbow Event Centre is facing threats over its decision to host the gathering.
According to Abdullahi, the venue owner was allegedly warned of a possible licence revocation linked to the office of Nyesom Wike if the facility is used for the convention.
The party maintained that it had fulfilled all contractual and financial obligations required to secure the venue and insisted that the event would proceed as planned.
āWe have already paid and signed all agreements. The convention will hold,ā Abdullahi said, while criticising what he described as growing authoritarian tendencies.
The allegation follows earlier difficulties reportedly encountered by the party in securing venues within the Federal Capital Territory.
A party chieftain, Kola Ologbondiyan, disclosed that requests to use public facilities, including Eagles Square and the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, were unsuccessful.
He added that several private venues also declined to host the event, allegedly due to fear of repercussions.
As of the time of reporting, there has been no official response from the Federal Capital Territory Administration regarding the claims.
