A 29-year-old man, Zayyanu Abdullahi, was apprehended on Sunday along the Anka-Bagega Road in Zamfara State while allegedly transporting ammunition.
The arrest was made by military personnel in conjunction with the Zamfara State Community Protection Guards (ZSCPG), acting on information provided by local residents about suspicious activity in the area.
Counter-insurgency expert and security analyst Zagazola Makama shared details of the incident on his X account. He noted that Abdullahi, a resident of Shinkafi Local Government Area, was stopped at a security checkpoint. During the search, officials discovered 35 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition hidden in a wrapper.
Preliminary investigations suggest that Abdullahi was on his way to deliver the ammunition to a person named Wadata in Bagega town. Authorities have since taken Abdullahi into custody and are working to locate Wadata and any other individuals who may be involved in this case.
