On Wednesday, a devastating accident occurred at Oye Agu Market in Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, where an out-of-control vehicle crashed into the market, causing widespread damage. Although exact details are still emerging, it is feared that several people have lost their lives.
Reports indicate that the speeding vehicle, a Sienna, veered off course and collided with market stalls, damaging wares and possibly resulting in fatalities. A video circulating on social media depicts the wrecked vehicle and some of the traders who may have been crushed in the accident. The footage also shows damaged food items, including tomatoes, scattered across the scene.
Engr. Ben Okongwu, President-General of the Abagana community, confirmed that at least three people have died as a result of the crash. He attributed the accident to the driver’s loss of control.
The spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Anambra State, RC Margaret Onabe, has stated that she is currently unaware of the incident.
