A tragic road accident on Kano-Zaria Road has claimed the lives of nine individuals and left three others injured. The incident occurred on Wednesday, September 10, 2024, in the Kura Local Government Area of Kano State.

According to a statement from Abdullahi Labaran, spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Kano State Command, the accident involved a collision between a truck and a tricycle. A total of twelve people were involved in the crash. The victims were rushed to Kura General Hospital for immediate medical care.

Labaran explained that initial investigations suggest the accident was caused by improper overtaking, which led to the driver losing control of the vehicle.

Corps Commander Ahmed Mohammed, the Sector Commander of Kano State FRSC, extended his condolences to the families of those who died and were injured. He emphasized the critical need for adherence to traffic laws and advised drivers to maintain safe speeds, especially near major towns.

Labaran also urged road users to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary activities like loitering or hawking along highways to prevent similar accidents. The FRSC remains dedicated to enhancing road safety through public awareness and enforcement efforts.
