A truck loaded with sachet water collided with two vehicles in Lagos, trapping the driver and his assistant beneath the mini truck. They were successfully rescued, according to a press release from the agency.

Sola Giwa, the Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Transportation, confirmed that the accident involved the mini truck and two Mazda vehicles near Adeniji, descending from the Third Mainland Bridge towards Sura. Giwa stated that an investigation revealed the driver of the mini truck lost control due to brake failure, causing the collision with the two Mazda cars.

Giwa added that the injured driver and his assistant were immediately taken to the hospital by the truck’s owner. He noted that LASTMA personnel promptly cleared all accident vehicles to ensure a free flow of traffic towards Lagos Island.

Giwa expressed concern over drivers’ continued disregard for the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law, 2018. Despite ongoing campaigns to educate motorists on speed limits and vehicle maintenance, especially the braking system, infractions persist. He urged all drivers, including truck operators and private car owners, to avoid speeding and check their vehicles before driving within and outside the state. Giwa also extended sympathies to the injured victims.
