The Federal Government has revoked land allocations within the defunct Dukpa Site and Services Scheme in Gwagwalada, Abuja, as part of plans to take over the area for the National Housing Programme.

The affected allottees have been given a three-week verification window to establish the authenticity of their claims and ownership of the affected plots, while arrangements are being made to relocate genuine allottees to another site within Gwagwalada.

According to information from the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, the verification exercise is scheduled to commence on September 7, 2026, and will run for three weeks on working days.

The exercise will be conducted at either the Office of the Presidential Technical Committee on Land Reform (PTCLR), located in Garki 2, Abuja, or the Department of Lands and Housing Development at the headquarters of the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development in Mabushi, Abuja.

The government has warned affected allottees to take the verification exercise seriously, stressing that only individuals who successfully establish the authenticity of their allocations and ownership claims will be considered for relocation.

Those seeking verification are required to present the original and photocopies of their Letter of Allocation, payment receipt or receipts, a valid means of identification, a sworn affidavit of ownership and passport photographs.

The Federal Government further warned that any plot or allottee that remains unverified at the expiration of the three-week exercise will be removed from the relocation list.

It also stated that there would be no extension of the verification period, making the September 7 commencement date and the three-week deadline critical for all affected property owners.

The development is connected to the Federal Government’s plan to utilise the Dukpa area for the National Housing Programme, resulting in the revocation of the previous land allocations under the defunct Dukpa Site and Services Scheme.

Affected residents and allottees are therefore expected to appear at the designated verification centres with the required documents to protect their claims and determine their eligibility for relocation.

Chronicles Reporters understands that the exercise is intended to distinguish genuine allottees from unverifiable or unsupported claims before the government proceeds with the redevelopment of the area for the housing programme.

All affected allottees are advised to complete the verification process within the stipulated period to avoid being excluded from the relocation arrangements.
