Newly Appointed SSA on Youth and Sports Affairs Begins Mandate With Youth-Focused Engagement
Young people across Gwagwalada Area Council are set to converge on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, to commemorate International Youth Day, with the newly appointed Senior Special Assistant to the Executive Chairman on Youth and Sports Affairs, Hon. Inuwa Umar, leading the celebration.
The event, scheduled for 10:00 a.m. at the Gwagwalada Area Council Conference Hall, is themed “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations.”
The celebration will mark Hon. Inuwa Umar’s first major official assignment since his appointment by the Executive Chairman of Gwagwalada Area Council, Hon. Kasim Mohammed, and is expected to provide a platform for young people across the Area Council to engage in discussions on their aspirations, challenges and role in community development.
According to the organisers, the theme reflects the diverse backgrounds and experiences of young people while emphasising the common goals and aspirations that unite them.
The event is designed to promote youth unity, meaningful participation, networking and dialogue, while providing an avenue for young people to share ideas and collectively discuss issues affecting their generation.
Speaking ahead of the celebration, Hon. Inuwa Umar said youth development would remain a major focus of his responsibilities as the council’s SSA on Youth and Sports Affairs.
He stressed that young people should be given meaningful opportunities to contribute to the development of Gwagwalada Area Council, noting that their energy, ideas and talents remain important assets to the community.
The newly appointed SSA also called on youths from across the Area Council to participate actively in the celebration and use the opportunity to exchange ideas, build relationships and strengthen their collective vision for the future.
The event will be hosted by Hon. Inuwa Umar, while the Executive Chairman of Gwagwalada Area Council, Hon. Kasim Mohammed, will serve as the Chief Host.
The celebration, coming only days after Inuwa Umar’s appointment, is expected to provide an early indication of his approach to youth engagement and sports development during his tenure.
