The Everybody Must Serve Campaign (EMSC), a civic accountability movement advocating transparency, justice, and responsible leadership in Gwagwalada, has congratulated N.D. Abdulsalam on his emergence as Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Gwagwalada Branch, while urging the new leadership to prioritize the defense of the rule of law and protection of citizens against abuse of power.
In a statement made available to Chronicles Reporters, the campaign described Abdulsalam’s victory as an opportunity for the legal community to strengthen public confidence in justice and constitutional governance within Gwagwalada and beyond.
The group noted that the NBA remains one of the most respected institutions in Nigeria’s democratic journey and has a responsibility to serve as a watchdog against impunity, oppression, and violations of fundamental human rights.
According to the campaign, the new NBA leadership should pay close attention to allegations of abuse of office, executive excesses, arbitrary actions, and disregard for due process by public office holders at the local government level.
The organization specifically called for greater scrutiny of issues that emerged during the administration of former Gwagwalada Area Council Chairman, Abu Giri, alongside other matters affecting transparency, accountability, and respect for the law within the council.
The campaign maintained that public officials must understand that leadership is a trust given by the people and that no individual should be above the law regardless of political status or influence.
It further urged the NBA Gwagwalada Branch under Abdulsalam’s leadership to champion legal advocacy, public interest litigation, human rights protection, and civic education to ensure that residents of Gwagwalada have access to justice whenever their rights are threatened.
The group stated that lawyers must continue to stand on the side of truth and constitutionalism, especially in situations where citizens allege intimidation, unlawful actions, or abuse of authority by those entrusted with public office.
While congratulating the newly elected chairman and his executive team, the Everybody Must Serve Campaign expressed hope that the NBA Gwagwalada Branch would become a stronger voice for accountability, democratic values, and institutional reforms.
The campaign concluded by calling on all stakeholders, civil society groups, community leaders, and legal practitioners to work together in promoting a culture where public service is guided by integrity, justice, and respect for the rule of law, insisting that sustainable development can only thrive where accountability is upheld and no one is treated as being above the law.
