The latest release of documents and images from the U.S. Department of Justice’s Jeffrey Epstein files has delivered another blow to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the former Duke of York, with new material that continues to cast doubt on his past association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The disclosures, published this week, include previously unseen photographs and email exchanges involving Mountbatten-Windsor that have intensified public scrutiny of his conduct and judgment.
BBC Royal Correspondent Sean Coughlan wrote that the newly released pages contain “unedifying pictures and words” that further undermine Mountbatten-Windsor’s efforts to move past the scandal surrounding his ties to Epstein. Coughlan noted that one email from February 2011 shows Mountbatten-Windsor telling Epstein, “This week is all about me… Time to put something back into me before the rest of the world starts sucking it out in all their greed and demands.” The message appears in files from years after Epstein’s conviction, suggesting continued contact despite previous assurances to end communication.
Among the new material are photographs that appear to show Mountbatten-Windsor in compromising positions with an unidentified, fully clothed woman. In one image, he is seen on all fours over the woman and in another with his hand on her stomach. The identities, timing and context of the photos have not been disclosed by authorities, but the visuals have fueled fresh debate over his role and associations.
The continuing release of Epstein files comes as calls grow — particularly from legal and political circles — for Mountbatten-Windsor to provide testimony or cooperate fully with ongoing reviews of the files. While the disclosures do not constitute proof of criminal conduct, Coughlan wrote, they add to “more unedifying pictures and words” that make it “clearer than ever that the former royal’s reputation remains mired in controversy.”
