The Abia State Police Command has demoted a police officer from the rank of corporal to constable following allegations of unprofessional conduct and poor treatment of the public.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the command’s spokesperson, Maureen Chinaka, confirmed that the decision came after a comprehensive administrative process. The officer was subjected to an orderly room trial, where he was found guilty of misconduct and a lack of professionalism.

“The Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, Danladi Isa, acting in line with the vision of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), has disbanded the Command’s Anti-Cultism Unit due to unprofessional conduct and incivility towards the public,” the statement noted.

The statement further disclosed that F/No: 527324 Corporal Okonkwo Ebuka, who was attached to the Area Command in Aba but assigned to special duty in Isuochi, was demoted to the rank of constable.

Commissioner Danladi Isa reiterated the command’s commitment to maintaining a zero-tolerance policy for any actions by officers that could damage the reputation of the police force. He emphasized the importance of professionalism and public trust as key principles guiding the force’s operations.
