The Executive Chairman of the Gwagwalada Area Council, Comr. Hon. Kasim Mohammed, has formally transmitted the much-anticipated list of nominees for key political appointments to the Legislative Arm of the Council, signalling the commencement of the constitutional process that will usher a new executive team into office.

The nominees, who are expected to occupy the strategic positions of Council Secretary, Supervisory Councillors and Senior Special Advisers, were officially presented to the Legislative Chamber on Monday afternoon. The list had earlier been released to the public last Friday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman.

Chairman Mohammed was represented during the submission by the Liaison Officer, the Chief of Staff and other senior aides from the Chairman’s Office, who conveyed the nomination list on his behalf.

In receiving the nominees’ list, the Legislative Arm formally acknowledged the submission and assured the Executive that the screening and confirmation exercise would be conducted promptly and in line with the provisions guiding the Council’s legislative procedures.

The lawmakers further expressed their commitment to ensuring an efficient confirmation process to enable the successful nominees to assume office without unnecessary delay and immediately begin supporting the administration’s development agenda.

The submission represents one of the first major administrative milestones of the Kasim Mohammed-led government as it moves to fully constitute its leadership team. Political stakeholders and residents of the Area Council are expected to closely follow the screening process, with attention likely to focus on the experience, competence and vision of the nominees selected to drive the administration’s policies and programmes.

Once confirmed by the Legislative Arm, the appointees will be expected to play pivotal roles in strengthening governance, improving service delivery and advancing the Chairman’s commitment to responsive and people-centred leadership across Gwagwalada Area Council.
