The Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory has announced the formal public opening of tenders submitted by contractors and service providers bidding for various contracts advertised in national newspapers on June 26, 2026.
The tender-opening exercise, which is expected to place the bidding process under heightened public scrutiny, is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. prompt at the Conference Hall of the Gwagwalada Area Council Secretariat.
In a notice issued by the Secretary of the Tender Board Committee, the Council called on all bidding companies and their officially designated representatives to attend the exercise and complete the required registration before the commencement of the opening.
The Council also extended an invitation to Civil Society Organisations, Non-Governmental Organisations involved in anti-corruption advocacy, professional bodies and members of the general public to attend and observe the proceedings.
The invitation is aimed at reinforcing transparency, accountability and public confidence in the procurement process, particularly as the disclosure and opening of submitted bids are critical stages in ensuring that public contracts are subjected to appropriate scrutiny.
The Council stressed that all bidders or their authorised representatives are expected to arrive at the venue ahead of the scheduled time, warning that late arrivals would not be entertained once the exercise begins at exactly 10:00 a.m.
The development is likely to attract attention from contractors, civil society groups and other stakeholders interested in the management of public resources and the integrity of procurement processes within the Area Council.
The Tender Board Committee further directed interested parties seeking additional information or clarification concerning the exercise to visit the Secretariat of the Tender Board Committee, Gwagwalada Area Council.
The Council’s decision to open the process to observers comes against the broader demand for greater transparency in public procurement, where stakeholders have consistently called for procurement exercises to be conducted in a manner that promotes fairness, competition and accountability.
