Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has launched a blistering attack on the Director-General of the Department of State Services, Tosin Ajayi, accusing him of masterminding an alleged operation that led to his assault, abduction, and unlawful detention within the premises of the Federal High Court.
In a strongly worded statement posted on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Sowore dismissed claims that the DSS was investigating those responsible for the incident, describing such assertions as “an insult to intelligence.”
According to the activist, the operation that unfolded at the Federal High Court was neither spontaneous nor the handiwork of rogue operatives but a carefully coordinated mission allegedly sanctioned at the highest levels of the security agency.
Sowore alleged that DSS operatives took control of the court premises and courtroom, harassing lawyers, journalists, and members of the public before allegedly holding him hostage for more than an hour in the basement of the court complex.
He further claimed that the operation was coordinated through the agency’s Director of Operations, identified as Dogiwa, who, according to him, remained in constant communication with the team involved throughout the incident.
“For starters, this operation was planned by the DSS hierarchy,” Sowore stated, insisting that no one should be deceived by the agency’s public posture on the matter.
The activist directly accused Ajayi of acting on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, alleging that both the DSS leadership and the government bear responsibility for what transpired at the court.
Sowore claimed that portions of the alleged operation were captured on video, while other events took place inside elevators and secluded sections behind the court complex, away from public scrutiny.
He, however, asserted that the operation failed to achieve its objective due to the presence of supporters and activists gathered outside the court premises.
According to him, their presence frustrated what he described as a broader plan against him.
The activist also referenced previous reports by Sahara Reporters, alleging that an alliance between Ajayi and former Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, had been exposed before the court proceedings.
Declaring that intimidation would not silence him, Sowore vowed to continue challenging what he described as abuse of power and oppression.
“We will continue to resist oppression, expose wrongdoing, and confront those who abuse power,” he said.
He concluded with a defiant warning that growing public anger over injustice could eventually trigger a mass uprising against those in authority.
As of press time, the DSS had not publicly responded to the latest allegations made by Sowore. The claims also remain independently unverified.
The latest exchange further escalates tensions between the activist and Nigeria’s security establishment, adding another layer of controversy to an already heated legal and political confrontation.
