The African Action Congress (AAC) candidate for the Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency, Abiodun Oyekan, has promised to champion the revival and expansion of Okitipupa Oil Palm PLC as part of a broader plan to tackle unemployment and restore industrial prosperity across the constituency.

Oyekan, in a statement issued on Saturday from Ikoya, Okitipupa Local Government Area, declared that the AAC remains the only political platform committed to returning Nigeria to an era of mass industrialization, economic productivity, and large-scale job creation.

According to him, unemployment has become one of the greatest challenges confronting young people in Okitipupa and Irele, despite the efforts many have made to acquire education and professional qualifications.

The AAC candidate said that if elected into the House of Representatives, he would pursue legislative measures aimed at attracting investment, strengthening local industries, and repositioning Okitipupa Oil Palm PLC as a major economic driver for the people of the constituency.

He argued that the company once stood as a symbol of economic strength and employment for the Ikale people during the 1980s and 1990s, adding that its restoration could create thousands of direct and indirect jobs while stimulating local economic growth.

Oyekan further described palm oil as a strategic global commodity with enormous economic value, stressing that countries such as Malaysia have built significant portions of their economies around palm oil production and export.

He maintained that Okitipupa possesses the historical foundation and agricultural advantage needed to reclaim its position as a leading palm oil-producing region, provided there is deliberate political commitment and investment in the sector.

The AAC standard bearer also called on residents of Okitipupa and Irele Local Government Areas to support the party at all levels during future elections, from the presidency down to the State House of Assembly, arguing that such collective support would create the political environment necessary for industrial transformation.

He reiterated the party’s commitment to policies focused on production, employment generation, and economic empowerment, insisting that sustainable industrialization remains the most effective solution to the growing unemployment crisis facing many Nigerian communities.

The statement concluded with the AAC slogan, “Take It Back,” as the candidate renewed his appeal for grassroots support and participation in what he described as a movement for economic revival and social progress across the constituency.
