The Councillorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting over the disputed election in Gwagwalada Central Ward has dismissed the petition filed against the victory of PDP candidate, Usman Yunusa Aliyu, following the formal withdrawal of the case by the petitioners.

The petition, which was filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) through its counsel representing Hon. Yusuf Nass, was officially withdrawn during proceedings today, bringing an end to the legal battle surrounding the councillorship seat.

Sources present at the tribunal confirmed that the withdrawal was accepted by the court without objection, leading to the immediate dismissal of the matter.

The development has now solidified the victory of Usman Yunusa Aliyu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), ending weeks of political tension and legal uncertainty in Gwagwalada Central Ward.

Supporters of the PDP celebrated the outcome shortly after the ruling, describing the dismissal as a victory for democracy and the mandate freely given by the people of the ward.

Political observers within Gwagwalada say the decision may further reshape political alignments ahead of future grassroots political contests in the Area Council.
