The political atmosphere in Nasarawa State is beginning to heat up following the resignation of the state’s Accountant General, Rt. Hon. Dr. Musa Ahmed Mohammed, who has announced his intention to run for governor in the 2027 general elections.
Mohammed made the declaration in Lafia during a well-attended gathering organized under the Fatan Alheri Movement, where he addressed supporters, political allies, and key stakeholders. The event drew several notable figures, including the Chairman of the State Football Association, Alhaji Salisu Galadima.
Sources indicate that his decision to join the race came after mounting pressure from various groups and supporters across the state who have been urging him to step forward.
His exit from office follows a wave of political consultations within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), as aspirants position themselves ahead of the الانتخابات. Recently, Governor Abdullahi Sule convened a strategic meeting in Abuja with party stakeholders and hopefuls. The meeting had in attendance prominent political heavyweights such as former governors Abdullahi Adamu and Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, alongside former Deputy Governor Silas Ali Agara.
Mohammed, who previously served as Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, is expected to intensify consultations and grassroots mobilization in the coming months as he formally enters the race.
With political activities gradually gaining momentum, observers say the build-up to the 2027 elections in Nasarawa is set to become increasingly dynamic.
