A review of the 2026 approved budget of Edo State House of Assembly has revealed that the House of Assembly Commission earmarked ₦50 million for the purchase of a single Sharp photocopier machine.
The budgetary provision is among several high-value allocations captured in the fiscal plan, raising questions about spending priorities within the state legislature.
Earlier findings by SaharaReporters showed that ₦1 billion was allocated for the purchase of an armoured vehicle for the Speaker of the Assembly. Additionally, ₦4.6 billion is set aside for vehicles for the 25 lawmakers in the House.
The document further indicates that ₦250 million has been budgeted for the construction of a new legislative building, while ₦60 million is allocated for the renovation of the Speaker’s guest house.
Another ₦170 million is proposed for the procurement of one Toyota Camry (2016 model) and seven Toyota Corolla (2016 models) for the Chairman, members, and Secretary of the House of Assembly Commission.
The Commission also plans to spend ₦50 million on refrigerators and other equipment for four directors, as well as ₦200 million for the replacement of the roof and windows of its office building.
The allocations have sparked public debate over fiscal responsibility and transparency in the management of state resources.
