The Reformed Niger Delta Ex-Agitators Forum has condemned the alleged brutal killing of a Bayelsa youth, Pereasude Patrick, describing the incident as a grave violation of human rights and a stain on law enforcement in the state.
In a press statement issued on behalf of the group, the National Chairman of the forum, Owoupele Eneoriekumoh Owous, popularly known as Owous Gabon, expressed deep condolences to the family of the deceased, who hails from Amassoma in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
According to the forum, Pereasude Patrick was allegedly arrested and tortured to death while in police custody. The statement alleged that a Yenagoa resident, identified as Bodmas Kemepade, orchestrated the arrest, which was reportedly carried out by police officers attached to Puff Harder. The forum further claimed that the deceased, before his death, made a dying declaration implicating Kemepade in the incident.
The ex-agitators’ group has called on the Bayelsa State Government and the Federal Government to urgently intervene and ensure that justice is served.
“We demand immediate suspension of the police officers involved, a thorough and transparent investigation, and the prosecution of Bodmas Kemepade and all other persons connected to this crime,” the statement read.
The forum stressed that the killing of Pereasude Patrick must not be swept under the carpet, warning that continued silence or inaction by authorities would further erode public trust in the justice system.
“The Reformed Niger Delta Ex-Agitators Forum stands in solidarity with the family of Pereasude Patrick and the people of Bayelsa State. We will not rest until those responsible face the full weight of the law,” the statement added.
