Security operatives have sealed off major roads and mounted heavy deployments across Yola, the Adamawa State capital, ahead of the visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday.

Armed personnel were stationed at key junctions and along strategic routes linked to project inauguration sites, while patrol vehicles were positioned at critical flashpoints across the city.

As of early morning, the Numan Road corridor connecting Yola International Airport to the city centre was barricaded, halting vehicular movement. Motorists were redirected through the Jambutu Bypass near Air Force Comprehensive School due to the restrictions.

There were also indications that the busy Bank Road would be temporarily shut as the president’s aircraft was scheduled to land at about 10:30 a.m., prompting tighter movement control in parts of the capital.

Beyond the security presence, Yola has taken on a ceremonial atmosphere. Streets, roundabouts, and public buildings are adorned with billboards and posters bearing the president’s image, reflecting the political significance of the visit.

Projects slated for inauguration include the newly constructed eight-lane Bank Road, a High Court Complex, a New Governor’s Office, an automated Government House Gate, and a Mega Model Secondary School located opposite the airport.

President Tinubu is also expected to don traditional attire associated with the Marghi ethnic group of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, a gesture viewed as symbolic of cultural solidarity.

The visit has effectively placed Yola under controlled movement, with heightened security and visible law enforcement presence as the state hosts the Commander-in-Chief.
