Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Saturday, February 21, 2026, arrested 20 suspects over alleged electoral offences during the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections.

According to the Commission, the arrests were made across various councils in the FCT for offences including vote buying, vote selling, and obstruction of electoral officials. A total sum of ₦17,218,700 was reportedly involved in the alleged infractions.

The EFCC disclosed that one suspect was apprehended in Kwali Area Council with ₦13.5 million found inside a vehicle parked near a polling unit.

A breakdown of the arrests shows that two suspects were picked up in Abaji, nine in Gwagwalada, four in Kuje, and four in Kwali.

The Commission stated that the suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
