Workers under the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), operating under the Joint Union Action Congress (JUAC), have announced plans for a peaceful solidarity march to the National Industrial Court in Abuja following a lawsuit filed against them by FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike. The unions say the action is in response to unresolved issues bordering on workers’ welfare, conditions of service, and other labour related concerns.
In a mobilisation notice signed by JUAC Secretary, Abdullahi Umar Saleh, workers across all Secretariats, Departments, and Agencies (SDAs) were urged to participate in the march scheduled for Monday, January 26, 2026. Saleh assured members that the congress remains committed to pursuing its demands strictly through lawful and constitutional means.
According to JUAC, the march is designed to show unity and support for organised labour as the court considers the case. The unions stressed that the demonstration will be peaceful, orderly, and in line with the Constitution, existing labour laws, and Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) guidelines on public protests.
Participants are expected to assemble at the FCTA Minister’s Gate by 6:00am before proceeding to the National Industrial Court on Gimbiya Street, Area 11. JUAC also warned against any form of provocation, urging strict compliance with directives from union marshals, while reiterating the labour movement’s slogan: “An injury to one is an injury to all.”
