The political controversy surrounding allegations of inducement and anti-party tactics in Ibwa Ward, Gwagwalada Area Council, has taken a new turn following a formal response by Angulu Bilyaminu, son of former Gwagwalada Chairman and APC chieftain, Hon. Zakari Angulu Dobi.

In a public note addressed to Rhyne Manasseh Ashukus and Chronicles Reporters, Angulu Bilyaminu cautioned against what he described as “misleading and poorly substantiated narratives” concerning his father, while also questioning the editorial responsibility of media platforms publishing such reports.

Angulu Camp Raises Concerns Over Media Ethics

In the statement, Angulu Bilyaminu emphasized that silence should not be mistaken for weakness or ignorance, noting that his camp has been “observing, verifying, and documenting patiently.” He warned that journalism should not be reduced to activism or personal vendetta, stressing that professional reporting requires balance, evidence, transparency, and the right of reply.

He further referenced Nigerian defamation laws and media ethics, cautioning that the publication of false or misleading information could carry legal consequences. According to him, Hon. Zakari Angulu Dobi’s public service record is open and verifiable, and any criticism should be factual, accountable, and transparent.

“Silence is strategy, not ignorance,” the statement concluded.

Chronicles Reporters’ Position

Chronicles Reporters acknowledges and welcomes this response as part of the democratic process and reiterates its firm commitment to ethical, balanced, and investigative journalism.

Our previous report was clearly attributed to statements made by a PDP campaign spokesperson, Muhammed Isa Hassan, and was presented as claims and allegations, not established facts. At no point did Chronicles Reporters present the allegations as a judicial conclusion or verified verdict against Hon. Zakari Angulu Dobi.

In line with journalistic standards:

• The report identified its sources.

• It clearly contextualized the allegations as political claims.

• It noted that no response had been issued at the time by the Angulu camp.

• It expressly stated that the outlet was open to updates as more facts emerged.

The response by Angulu Bilyaminu therefore constitutes a right of reply, which Chronicles Reporters considers essential to fair reporting and has now duly incorporated into the public record.

Clarifying Editorial Independence

Chronicles Reporters also clarifies that:

• The platform operates with editorial independence, not personal or political vendetta.

• Contributors and reporters are bound by attribution, sourcing, and accountability.

• Criticism of public figures, when newsworthy, is part of democratic scrutiny—not hostility.

Where facts are contested, Chronicles Reporters remains open to verifiable evidence from all parties and encourages constructive engagement rather than intimidation or assumption of malice.

As the political season intensifies in Gwagwalada, Chronicles Reporters reaffirms its role as a public-interest media platform, committed to:

• Verification over speculation

• Balance over bias

• Accountability over propaganda

We welcome responses, clarifications, and counterclaims from all stakeholders and will continue to report developments fairly, transparently, and responsibly, in line with journalistic ethics and the law.
