In Zamfara State, a deadly ambush by bandits has resulted in the deaths of three soldiers and four police officers. The state’s Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Dalijan, revealed that the bandits intended to attack a construction company operating along the Gusau-Funtua highway.

According to Dalijan, both police and military forces were dispatched to the scene after receiving intelligence about the planned attack. However, the bandits had set up an ambush and opened fire on the approaching security personnel.

Dalijan explained that the troops encountered heavy resistance from the bandits, leading to a fierce gunfight. Despite their efforts to repel the attack, the confrontation resulted in the loss of three soldiers and four policemen.

The commissioner noted that the bandits had aimed to enter the Setraco camp to kidnap staff members, but the ambush on the road thwarted the operation.

Earlier reports by Channels Television indicated that bandits had blocked the busy Gusau-Funtua highway for about two hours, further escalating the situation.
