On Thursday evening, a violent bank robbery in the Abaji Area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) resulted in the deaths of three people, including a policeman. The attack occurred around 6 p.m. when the robbers exited their vehicle and immediately opened fire on a nearby police station, killing an officer.

Following the initial assault, the robbers moved to a nearby bank, where they continued to fire indiscriminately. In the chaos, a bank security guard was shot while attempting to escape the premises. The robbers then tried to breach the bank’s strong room but were unable to gain access.

Police forces responded rapidly, joined by soldiers and local vigilantes, and engaged the robbers in a fierce shootout. During the exchange, two of the robbers were killed. According to local witnesses, enraged residents captured a third robber and set him on fire.

The FCT Police Command confirmed the incident, stating that anti-robbery squad operatives and local security personnel have been deployed to track down the remaining suspects involved in the robbery.
