A tragic fire incident in Lagos has claimed the lives of four workers who were burnt beyond recognition at a lounge and bar located on Baale Road, Olodi Apapa. The fire broke out early Sunday morning, completely destroying the establishment.
This unfortunate event follows another tragedy in the city, where two individuals lost their lives due to a collapsed fence in the Ejigbo area on Saturday.
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed both incidents on Monday. He reported that around 7:50 a.m. on Sunday, authorities received an emergency call about a fire at the lounge and bar, which ignited shortly before at approximately 7:45 a.m. A team of police and firefighters was promptly dispatched to the scene.
“The fire affected the entire building and was eventually extinguished,” Hundeyin stated. He further explained that investigators found the remains of four unidentified staff members, whose bodies were taken to the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) morgue in Yaba.
In a related incident, at least two out of three individuals were reported dead after a school fence collapsed in Ejigbo. Hundeyin elaborated, saying, “A distress call came in around 10:30 a.m. regarding a collapsed fence on Apano Street, which fell on three individuals named Amaka, 30, Etim, 38, and Emmanuel, 12.”
All three were reportedly walking home in heavy rain when the fence gave way. “They sustained severe injuries and were rushed to Isolo General Hospital, where Etim and Emmanuel were pronounced dead. Amaka is currently receiving treatment,” he added.
