EFCC To Fly Crossdresser Bobrisky From Lagos To Abuja For Interrogation Over Alleged Bribery, Corruption
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reportedly detained popular crossdresser Idris Okuneye, known as Bobrisky, and plans to transfer him to its headquarters in Abuja for questioning over alleged bribery and corruption.
According to The PUNCH, an EFCC source revealed on Friday that Bobrisky was apprehended at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Thursday night as he attempted to leave Nigeria for London. He is expected to be flown to Abuja for interrogation later on Friday.
The source explained, “We have detained him in Lagos today, and he will be flown to Abuja today. He accused us of bribery and corruption. We invited him multiple times, but he did not respond. If someone makes such serious accusations, they must be prepared to back them up. These claims are too significant to ignore.”
Additionally, the source pointed out that Bobrisky had also refused a prior invitation to appear before the National Assembly regarding the issue. “We had no choice but to detain him so he can provide evidence for his allegations, and thatās precisely what we have done,” the source added.
The incident has generated widespread attention on social media. A viral video shared on the platform X shows Bobrisky being escorted off the London-bound flight by airport officials on Thursday night, just before he was taken into custody. He later posted on his Instagram story, āI’m badly injured; Nigerians, help me, EFCC just arrested me,ā alongside a short video showing his injuries.
Meanwhile, social commentator Isaac Fayose, the brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, shared a photo with Bobrisky aboard the same flight to London on Thursday, captioning, āLook whoās on the same flight with me to London, @Bobrisky222.ā
