A fire outbreak recently destroyed a telecommunications mast owned by a service provider on the grounds of Muhammadu Buhari Hospital in Giginyu, Kano State.

The Kano State Fire Service confirmed the incident through a statement released by its spokesperson, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi. Abdullahi explained that the Fire Service received an emergency call from one Muhammad Garba, who reported the blaze at the hospital.

Upon receiving the alert, firefighters were swiftly dispatched to the scene to control the flames and prevent them from spreading further.

“Fire crews from the central station reached the scene and found a 20 x 20 ft area within the hospital, housing the network provider’s antenna, engulfed in flames,” Abdullahi reported.

Thanks to the quick response by fire personnel, the fire was contained and eventually extinguished. Items recovered from the site included solar batteries, an inverter, three power generators, and other equipment, Abdullahi added.
