More than 40 individuals are reportedly trapped after a building collapse on Saturday in Abuja’s Sabon Lugbe area. Eyewitnesses and emergency response teams are currently working to rescue those caught under the debris.

Witnesses at the scene reported, “People are trapped beneath this rubble. The building was under construction. We urgently call on the government and relevant agencies to assist in rescuing those trapped here,” as seen in a video obtained by SaharaReporters.

This incident follows another building collapse in early October, where emergency responders rescued four individuals from a partially collapsed two-storey residential building in Abuja. SaharaReporters had previously reported that several people were initially trapped in that collapse, which occurred near the popular Cupid Hotel on Cupid Road, Sultan Dasuki Way, Kubwa.

Just weeks ago, tragedy struck at Nicholas Ukachukwu’s Praco Limited Estate in Guzape, Abuja, when another building collapsed, leaving a yet-to-be-confirmed number of workers feared dead.
