The Ogun State Police Command has announced the arrest of a suspected armed robbery member, Jonah Onah, who is believed to be part of a gang operating in the Olomore area of Abeokuta North Local Government Area.

Public Relations Officer Omolola Odutola revealed that Onah was taken into custody at a hideout following a successful police operation based on reliable intelligence. She shared the details in a phone interview with PUNCH Metro on Thursday.

Odutola stated, “The Divisional Police Officer of the Lafenwa Division conducted a raid on October 23, 2024, at 9:50 PM, which led to the arrest of notorious criminal Jonah Onah.” She noted that Olomore is known for its high level of criminal activity, and Onah is suspected of involvement in various crimes, including theft and pickpocketing.

During the arrest, police recovered a decoy gun and a jackknife from Onah, indicating his involvement in criminal activities. The PPRO mentioned that the police are actively working to apprehend other members of the robbery syndicate.

“A manhunt for the remaining gang members is underway,” Odutola confirmed, emphasizing the commitment of the police to dismantling the criminal network. “Discreet investigations are being conducted to ensure all members of this syndicate are brought to justice.”

In a related incident, PUNCH Metro previously reported the arrest of 27-year-old Imole Ajayi, who was also linked to armed robbery. He was apprehended on October 18 in the Agbara area after a police patrol team stopped him during a routine search. Ajayi, identified as part of a “one-chance” robbery gang, was found in possession of a single-barrel shotgun and three live cartridges. He was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for having the firearm.
