The Ondo State Police Command has announced the recovery of a six-year-old boy who was abandoned by a suspected kidnapper in Igbokoda. The boy, who was taken from his parents’ home, was found after the kidnapper fled, and the suspect’s whereabouts remain unknown.
The police made the announcement on their X (formerly Twitter) handle, providing an update on the case, which occurred last Sunday in the riverine town of Igbokoda.

According to an X user, @nicksonbaba, who initially reported the incident, the kidnapper had abducted the boy while his parents were away. Despite numerous efforts to locate the child, they were unsuccessful, leading them to report the matter to the Igbokoda Police Station.

Screenshots of the posts by the X user showed the timeline of the incident. The state police command responded shortly after these posts, confirming that the Divisional Police Officer of Igbokoda Police Station was aware and involved in the investigation.
In a new update provided today, the police confirmed that the boy had been found after the suspected kidnapper abandoned him, likely knowing that detectives were closing in. The child has since been reunited with his parents, and the police are continuing their efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspect.
