A 44-year-old parent, identified as Ayofe Kolawole, who was caught on video assaulting a teacher at Rosebud School in Idimu, Lagos State, has been charged and brought before a court.
This development was confirmed by the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin. In a statement shared on X (formerly known as Twitter), Hundeyin confirmed that the suspect had been arraigned on Tuesday.
“44-year-old Ayofe Kolawole was arraigned this morning,” Hundeyin posted on his official X account.
The assault gained widespread attention after a video went viral on social media, showing Kolawole physically attacking a teacher at the private school. The confrontation reportedly stemmed from the teacher disciplining Kolawole’s child without the parent’s prior consent.
In the footage, the irate father can be seen slapping and punching the teacher, causing a scene in front of students. The incident also included threats directed at the school’s owner.
Alex Onyia, an X user who shared the video, expressed outrage, saying: “This is a video of a parent at Rosebud School Idimu, Lagos beating up a teacher in front of students and even threatening to beat up the school owner. I know teachers in Nigeria earn peanuts, but any injustice against them is completely unacceptable. Police, over to you.”
