In a groundbreaking development, the Kogi State Election Petitions Tribunal has officially declared Natasha Akpoti-Uduagan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the rightful winner of the Kogi Central Senatorial election, which took place in February.

This landmark decision also nullifies the previously declared victory of Senator Abubakar Ohere from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Tribunal’s Chairman, Justice K. A. Orjiako, presented the unanimous judgment of the three-member panel. He disclosed that Senator Ohere’s reported results had been inflated in nine polling units within the Ajaokuta Local Government Area. Furthermore, he noted that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had incorrectly reduced Natasha’s results in those areas while omitting the results of three additional polling units designated for Natasha in the same LGA.

Following these necessary corrections, the court officially proclaimed Natasha Akpoti-Uduagan as the rightful winner of the election, securing a total of 54,074 votes, surpassing Senator Ohere, who had garnered 51,291 votes.
