The General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 6th Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General J.H. Abdusallam, has stated that military operations will continue in Okuama community, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, until the recovery of weapons and equipment allegedly stolen by criminals.

“We will keep conducting operations until the equipment and arms that were taken are recovered,” Maj. Gen. Abdusallam said while addressing journalists on Tuesday.

The GOC also recalled the tragic killing of soldiers in Okuama in March 2024, a painful incident still fresh in the army’s memory. He denied allegations that the army invaded the community during their latest operations on Monday.

“This is Nigeria. I don’t understand when people say the Nigerian Army invaded a place. When we conduct operations, it’s called military operations, not an invasion. Why call it an invasion?” he questioned.

He emphasized that the army’s presence in Okuama was part of their routine operations. “When we carry out military actions in other locations, it’s labeled as normal operations. The same applies here—it’s a regular military operation, not an invasion,” Abdusallam reiterated.
