In a shocking incident, Benedict Akika, a close associate of Governor Seyi Makinde and a prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, was reportedly kidnapped on Wednesday night by unknown gunmen.

The abduction allegedly took place at Akika’s residence located in Idi-Ape, along the Akobo Ojurin-Olohunda road in Ibadan. According to initial reports, the gunmen stormed the area and forcefully took him from his home.

Tragically, unconfirmed sources revealed that one person was fatally shot during the attack, although the identity of the victim has not yet been disclosed.

While the exact circumstances of the kidnapping remain unclear, law enforcement agencies are reportedly handling the situation. Efforts to obtain additional details from the authorities have so far been met with silence, as attempts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adewale Osifeso, were unsuccessful at the time of this report.
