Tragedy struck at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Tuesday when a tire explosion led to the deaths of two workers and injured another. The incident occurred at the Delta Air Lines operations facility.
According to reports, the explosion happened as a tire was being removed from an aircraft. While Delta Air Lines has not yet issued an official statement, WSB-TV confirms that one of the deceased was a Delta employee, and the other was a contractor. Another Delta worker sustained injuries in the blast.
The aircraft involved had recently arrived from Las Vegas, as reported by flight data.
