The Nigeria Police Force has addressed recent images circulating on social media platform X, showing bandits and kidnappers openly displaying large sums of ransom money. The police spokesperson, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, responded on Friday, stating that while it is impossible to arrest all criminals at once, security agencies are making significant strides in apprehending them daily.
The images, shared by security expert Zagazola Makama, depict individuals posing with bundles of N1000 notes. One of the photos shows a bandit seated on a motorcycle with a rifle by his side, while another image displays the money spread out on a floor.
Makama commented on the photos, saying, “They are now posing with the ransom money. Showing that they are balling.”
In his response, ACP Adejobi emphasized that although it is not feasible to capture all criminals immediately, no wrongdoer will escape justice. He urged Nigerians to recognize and appreciate the continuous efforts of law enforcement agencies, noting that numerous arrests are made daily.
“We can’t apprehend all the criminals at once. At least appreciate us for the ones we have arrested. We arrest them on a daily basis, in large numbers,” Adejobi stated.
He also highlighted the ongoing efforts of the armed forces and the police, urging the public to acknowledge and support these initiatives. “The armed forces and the police are trying their best. Efforts of security forces should be seen, noticed, and appreciated,” he added.
Adejobi called for collective and individual efforts to combat insecurity and other crimes in Nigeria. “One thing is sure, no criminal will go unpunished,” he concluded.
