President Bola Tinubu’s message was delivered at the culmination of the 2024 Nigerian Army Day celebration at the Maxwell Khobe Cantonment in Jos, Plateau State. Minister of Defence, Badaru Abubakar, conveyed the Federal Government’s commitment to soldiers’ welfare, announcing the President’s approval of group life assurance payments for soldiers who died in the line of duty.

The week-long celebrations ended on Saturday at the parade ground of Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, headquarters of the 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, in Bassa Local Government Area. Senior military officers, service chiefs, heads of para-military agencies, governors of Plateau and Taraba states, retired military officers, and traditional leaders attended the event.

In his address, Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen Taoreed Lagbaja, reassured troops of the Army’s determination to secure the nation from terrorists. The event featured a display of the Army’s armament and newly acquired helicopters, and the commissioning of an aviation pavilion.
