The Nigeria Police Force in Nasarawa State, working in conjunction with the military, successfully neutralized a group of armed robbers. This operation, which occurred on June 29, 2024, led to the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of various stolen items.

According to DSP Ramhan Nansel, Police Public Relations Officer for the Nasarawa State Command, the incident began with a distress call received at approximately 03:10 hours. The call reported an ongoing armed robbery around the Karshi by-pass. The Divisional Police Officer in Karshi promptly responded by coordinating with the military to address the situation.

Nansel detailed that upon receiving the alert, the police and military operatives swiftly moved to the robbery scene. As they arrived, the criminals opened fire, resulting in a gunfight. During the exchange, two of the robbers sustained fatal injuries and were transported to the hospital, where they later died while receiving treatment. The remaining suspects managed to escape, though likely with bullet wounds.

A thorough search of the area by the combined team led to the arrest of two individuals: Yusuf Lawal, a 27-year-old resident of Nyanya FCT, and Hamza Abdullahi from Orange Market, Mararaba, both originally from Bauchi State. The police recovered various items from the suspects, including three cartridges, three cutlasses, 19 handsets of different brands, two laptops, nine pairs of shoes, a wristwatch, an MP3 player, a power bank, three torches, three bags, two ear pods, a smoother, sachets of milk and Milo, and ₦2,600 in cash.

Commissioner of Police Umar Shehu Nadada praised the officers for their swift and effective response. He encouraged them to maintain their vigilance and dedication to duty.
