In a significant breakthrough, Nigerian troops operating under Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) have captured a notorious gunrunner implicated in several terrorist activities in Plateau State’s North Central region.

The arrest, which occurred on June 14, was the result of a precise intelligence operation, as reported by security analyst and counterinsurgency expert Zagazola Makama. According to Makama, the suspect was tracked down and detained in the Furaka community, located within the Lamingo axis of Jos Local Government Area.

Intelligence sources disclosed to Makama that the suspect was involved in the Christmas Eve 2023 attacks on Bokkos and Barkin Ladi Local Government Areas. During preliminary investigations, the suspect confessed to orchestrating numerous kidnapping operations across the Barkin Ladi, Bassa, Jos East, and Riyom Local Government Areas.

The apprehended individual is now in military custody, where further investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of his involvement in the region’s terrorist activities.
