Twenty-four personnel of the Police Mobile Force (PMF) attached to the Press Escorts Unit at the Presidential Villa in Abuja have appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene over the alleged non-payment of their allowances for nine consecutive months.
The affected officers, who said they continue to perform their official duties alongside colleagues receiving the benefits, expressed frustration over what they described as unequal treatment and prolonged neglect of their welfare.
In a petition addressed to President Tinubu at the Office of the President, the personnel said the outstanding payments had subjected them and their families to increasing financial difficulties.
They explained that the absence of the allowances had made it difficult to meet basic responsibilities, including transportation expenses, house rent and the daily needs of their dependants.
According to the petitioners, the situation has become particularly distressing because other personnel performing similar assignments reportedly continue to receive the allowances while the 24 officers remain unpaid.
In their appeal, they stated that they had continued carrying out their responsibilities despite the financial challenges caused by the outstanding payments.
The officers further disclosed that they have children, relatives and other family members depending on them, making the prolonged delay a significant burden on their household finances.
They said the allowances were an important part of their income and helped them meet routine expenses associated with their work and family responsibilities.
The petitioners consequently appealed to the Federal Government to investigate their complaint and ensure that all outstanding payments covering the nine-month period are released without further delay.
They also urged the President to consider their welfare and address the alleged disparity in the payment of allowances among personnel performing similar duties at the Presidential Villa.
The officers maintained that resolving the matter would provide much-needed financial relief and enable them to continue discharging their official responsibilities without the additional burden of unpaid entitlements.
