Gwagwalada Area Council is set for the grand finale of the 100 Days in Office Football Competition, an initiative designed to promote youth engagement, grassroots football development, talent discovery and community unity across the Area Council.
The tournament is being organised by the Gwagwalada Football Association (GFA) in collaboration with the Office of the Special Adviser on Recreational and Sports Development to the Executive Chairman, Gwagwalada Area Council.
The competition brings together football teams from communities across the Area Council and is being coordinated by the leadership of the Gwagwalada Football Association in collaboration with Barr. Babatunde Akintade Nelson, popularly known as Bucknor, the Special Adviser on Recreational and Sports Development to the Executive Chairman.
The initiative is being carried out under the supervision of Hon. Caleb D. Yakubu, Supervisory Councillor for Education, Gwagwalada Area Council.
According to the organisers, the tournament is aimed at creating a platform where young footballers can showcase their abilities, discover new talents and develop the values of discipline, teamwork and sportsmanship.
The competition also forms part of activities marking the first 100 days in office of Hon. Kasim Mohammed Ikwa, Executive Chairman of Gwagwalada Area Council, with the organisers seeking to use the sporting event to promote unity and strengthen community participation.
As the tournament progresses towards its grand finale, football lovers, sports stakeholders, community leaders and residents across Gwagwalada are expected to turn out to support the participating teams and witness the final battle for the championship.
The organisers described the event as an opportunity to celebrate grassroots football and provide constructive engagement for young people while bringing communities together through sports.
With the best-performing teams set to battle for glory, the grand finale is expected to provide an exciting conclusion to a competition that has placed youth participation, football development and community unity at the centre of its activities.
Residents and football enthusiasts across Gwagwalada Area Council have therefore been invited to participate in the sporting celebration from the opening ceremony through to the grand finale.
The event is expected to be a celebration of football, youth talent, unity and the first 100 days of the Kasim Mohammed Ikwa administration in Gwagwalada Area Council.
