The African Action Congress (AAC), Ondo State Chapter, has announced the death of its candidate for the Ondo State House of Assembly, Comrade Ojajuni Justice, describing his passing as a major loss to the party and the broader progressive movement in the state.
The party disclosed the development in a tribute dated August 15, 2026, in which it mourned Ojajuni as a committed activist, a “soldier of the people” and a fearless advocate for the oppressed.
In the statement, the AAC said Ojajuni was not merely a political candidate but a committed fighter for the ideals upon which the party was founded.
“It is with profound sorrow and a heavy heart that the African Action Congress (AAC), Ondo State Chapter, announces the painful exit of our beloved Comrade, Ojajuni Justice, who until his untimely death was a dedicated candidate of our great party for the Ondo State House of Assembly,” the party said.
The party described the late candidate as “a fearless voice for the oppressed, and a committed fighter for the revolutionary ideals upon which the AAC was founded.”
According to the AAC, Ojajuni’s decision to contest the election under its platform reflected his belief in a Nigeria founded on justice, equity and the protection of citizens’ rights.
“His decision to step forward and represent the aspirations of the masses under our party’s banner was a testament to his unwavering belief in a New Nigeria, one built on justice, equity, and the uncompromising defense of the rights of the common man,” the statement added.
The party said Ojajuni remained committed to its ideals despite the difficulties and pressures associated with political activism.
It described his death, coming amid ongoing political struggles, as a devastating blow to the party and the progressive movement in Ondo State and beyond.
“His passing in the midst of political struggles is a devastating blow not only to our party but to the entire progressive movement in Ondo State and beyond,” the AAC said.
The party also recalled Ojajuni’s activities during the campaign, particularly his engagement with people at the grassroots and his alleged refusal to abandon his principles for political convenience.
“We recall his tireless efforts on the campaign trail, his willingness to engage with the grassroots, and his refusal to compromise the principles of the AAC for political convenience,” it stated.
The AAC said Ojajuni consistently placed collective interests above personal gain and remained committed to advocating for people it described as voiceless.
“He embodied the spirit of comradeship, always placing the collective good above personal gain, always listening to the voiceless, and always standing firm against the forces of oppression and neo-colonial exploitation,” the party said.
The Ondo State chapter extended its condolences to Ojajuni’s family, friends, political associates and members of the wider progressive community, describing him as “a true comrade, a brother-in-arms, and a beacon of hope for a generation that yearns for genuine leadership.”
The party also called on its members across Ondo State and Nigeria to remain committed to the causes Ojajuni supported, urging them not to allow his death to weaken their resolve.
“Let us not allow the death of Comrade Ojajuni Justice to be in vain. Let his sacrifice strengthen our resolve to continue the struggle for which he gave his all,” the statement said.
“The best tribute we can offer him is to remain steadfast, to refuse intimidation, and to carry forward the banner of revolutionary change that he held so dearly.”
The AAC said Ojajuni’s name would remain part of the party’s history, stressing that his commitment to the people would continue to be remembered by its members.
“You fought the good fight. You stood for the people. And in the hearts of every true AAC member in Ondo State, you shall forever remain alive,” the party said.
The tribute concluded with the words, “Rest in power, Comrade,” followed by the party’s slogans, “Aluta continua! Victoria ascerta!”
