A suspected female political thug identified as “Arugba” has allegedly threatened voters in Osun State, warning that anyone who fails to vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) during Saturday’s governorship election risks having the finger used to cast the ballot severed.
In a viral video circulating on social media, the woman was seen alongside her companions making threatening remarks and allegedly attempting to instil fear among residents ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
Addressing voters in the video, she reportedly warned those intending to vote for parties other than the APC against coming out to exercise their franchise.
“We will cut the finger you used to vote [for] any party except APC. That finger won’t follow you go back home that day,” she said.
“Let them know we are coming for them. Don’t worry to even come out to vote [if you are not going to vote for APC]. Don’t dare us. We are not making empty threats. We mean what we say.”
The alleged threat has heightened concerns over political violence, voter intimidation and the safety of residents as political parties intensify mobilisation across the state ahead of Saturday’s election.
The development comes barely a day after Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District, was invited by the police following a viral video in which he was allegedly heard making threatening remarks against members and supporters of the Accord Party.
Fadahunsi, on Wednesday, honoured the police invitation and later left the Criminal Investigation Department of the Osun State Police Command in Osogbo after meeting with investigators.
The police invitation followed a video recorded during an APC campaign programme in Ilesa, Osun State, where Fadahunsi was allegedly heard making inflammatory remarks against members of the Accord Party ahead of the governorship election.
In the video, he was allegedly heard warning that Accord Party members should not be seen in Ilesa ahead of the election.
“If we hear of Accord Party again in Ilesa here for the election coming up on Saturday, you can record me and say it anywhere,” he was heard saying.
He was subsequently heard allegedly telling supporters that Accord Party members should be killed if they were seen in the area before the election.
“So we are here now to tell you that till the day of the election, if we see any Accord Party members, we’ll kill them,” he allegedly said.
“We cannot be watching.”
Fadahunsi also allegedly warned that Accord Party members intending to vote would not be allowed to do so and reportedly threatened traditional rulers whom he accused of supporting the opposition party.
The emergence of another viral video containing alleged threats against voters has further intensified concerns among residents, political parties and other stakeholders over the safety of voters and the possibility of intimidation during the election.
The Osun governorship election is scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026, with political parties and their supporters expected to mobilise across the state.
The latest allegations have also raised questions about the preparedness of security agencies to protect voters, prevent political thuggery and ensure that eligible citizens can freely exercise their constitutional right to vote without fear or intimidation.
The police and other relevant security authorities are expected to investigate the alleged threats and take appropriate measures to safeguard residents before, during and after the election.
Senator Francis Fadahunsi is a serving senator representing Osun East Senatorial District and a member of the APC.
The allegations contained in the viral video involving the woman identified as “Arugba”, as well as the earlier allegations involving Senator Fadahunsi, remain subject to investigation and confirmation by the appropriate authorities.
