The Executive Chairman of Gwagwalada Area Council, Hon. Kasim Mohammed, has sought urgent military intervention following rising tension and recurring clashes between farmers and herders in Gurfata and other communities within the area.
Kasim made the appeal during a visit to the 176 Battalion Barracks, where he expressed concern over the worsening security situation and its potential impact on the lives, livelihoods and peaceful coexistence of residents.
The Chairman urged the military authorities to consider the immediate deployment of personnel to the affected communities to help de-escalate the tension, restore calm and prevent further clashes.
He stressed the need for swift intervention to prevent the situation from escalating further and to safeguard residents and their means of livelihood.
Kasim also reaffirmed the commitment of the Gwagwalada Area Council administration to protecting lives and property, stressing that peace and security remain a priority across the Area Council.
The appeal follows growing concerns over renewed tensions between farming and herding communities in Gurfata and neighbouring areas, with fears that continued confrontation could further threaten the peace and security of residents.
